Sefa Targıt: “AYSAD has a status that is equal to the safety”
Taking the floor in the wishes and requests section of the General Assembly, Sefa Targıt, one of the previous term presidents of AYSAD, touched upon the sectoral representation capability of AYSAD in the organizations of which it is a member at national and international levels and the importance of the reputation it has added to the sector through these memberships. Sefa Targıt said, “AYSAD successfully and honorably represents our sector in the Federation of Sectoral Associations (SEDEFED) and therefore in the Turkish Business World Confederation (TÜRKONFED), Turkish Machinery Federation (MAKFED) and European Lift Association (ELA). We have also been members of UDDER and İMSAD for many years. In addition to voluntary civil organizations, we also try to represent our sector in business world organizations established by law. For example, I can give examples such as MYK, TOBB Assembly, TSE mirror committee, TUBİTAK Machinery committees. I especially want our young friends to participate in the activities and management levels of these civil society organizations on behalf of AYSAD. Because, in order for elevators to find the place they deserve in the business world and society, they need qualified representation there,” and continued as follows: “I would like to mention the MMO Machinery Hangar that we are in. The Chamber of Mechanical Engineers, which I and many of my friends are proud to be members of, in addition to traditional educational activities and Elevator Symposium organization; A type inspection organization and Notified Body organization, and opened a vocational qualification exam facility. We provided great support to these initiatives with our AYSAD identity. Together with our chamber, we had established a magnificent MYK Center by spending great financial resources and effort. Our member elevator and escalator companies did their best without doubling our requests. Our Board Member Sedat Yıldız was the person who carried out that process, he spent a lot of his time.” Sefa Targıt said the following at the end of his speech: “TÜSİAD High Advisory Board Chairman Ömer Aras, in his general assembly speech, the details of which escaped attention because it was a subject of litigation, touched on fires and work accidents and said, “There is also a problem of merit in the business world. In companies, people who do not deserve it can occupy seats. He had made a speech along the lines of “The habit of putting cost before safety is widespread”. This is a very important message coming from business world summits and a bit of self-criticism. As AYSAD, we have achieved a status in the public that is synonymous with safety. For example, one of the important actors of the Architecture and Fire symposium was our Professor Erdem İmrak. We must maintain and continue this level, my friends. For this reason, I expect and request more participation from you in the channels I mentioned.”
Nuri Yılmaz stated that they carried out a study with the support of Sefa Targıt to restore the historical elevator used by Atatürk in the Büyük Kulüp.
